A Laredo native, Tad Lawrence Deutsch, has a long standing tradition with the Society of Martha Washington.  He participated as a page in 1978 and was an escort in 1990.  He follows in the footsteps of his brother, Ito, who also portrayed George Washington in 2003.

Upon graduation from the University of Texas at Austin, Tad returned to Laredo to join the family business, which his grandfather, Aladar, started in 1928.  The family business has grown to include locations in Laredo, Houston and McAllen.  Tad was an integral part of this business expansion.

"I am honored that the Society chose me to portray George Washington. Most important were all the calls I received from all my friends and family to congratulate me for this honor," said Tad Deutsch. "These friendships are what make Laredo such a great place to live, and I wouldn't live any other place," added Deutsch.

He has been married for 10 years to Society of Martha Washington member Irma De La Miyar Maldonado de Deutsch, also a native of Laredo.  They have two children: Natalia and Stellan.
