The Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association (WBCA) kicked-off the 125th festivities with lively music, food, confetti and the official ribbon cutting of the Celebration during the Commander’s Reception Hosted by Falcon Bank on Thursday, January 18, 2023 at the Sames Auto Arena.

“Tonight we kick off our 125th Washington’s Birthday Celebration,” WBCA President D. Matthew Gibson said. “This year’s celebration features more than 29 events in 45 days, so there is certainly something for everyone to enjoy.”

In-Kind sponsors for the event include the Sames Auto Arena and Doctors Hospital.

The highly anticipated WBCA Commander’s Reception Hosted by Falcon Bank provides the perfect opportunity for members of the media to get a sneak peek of the entertainment to come. WBCA Event Committees and affiliate organizations, such as the Princess Pocahontas Council, the Society of Martha Washington and LULAC were also given the opportunity to showcase their respective organizations and invite the media to their events. The WBCA™ Pipes & Stripes Car Show Sponsored by VitalMed flaunted vintage cars inside and outside the arena.

Joining in the official ribbon cutting of the 125th Washington’s Birthday Celebration were WBCA Officials, members of the media, dignitaries and sponsors who help make the festivities possible.

The Washington’s Birthday Celebration, founded in 1898, is the largest Celebration of its kind in the United States.
Throughout the years, the Celebration has grown to be over a month long with over 29 events in 45 days. Events include parades, dazzling pageants, fireworks, a carnival, an air show, a sizzling jalapeño festival and much more. Combined, WBCA™ events attract nearly 500,000 residents and visitors, and yearly contributes an estimated $20 million to the local economy.
The Washington’s Birthday Celebration was recently ranked as one of the Top 100 Events in North America.
